NATURE*CRAFTING*LIBATIONS

Driver: What exit is it?

Me: It's coming up...There! Now we turn here and go to an Industrial Complex.

Backseat: Where the hell are we going?!? Are you sure this is right? Where did you get the directions from?

Scene: Deserted street. Quiet industrial complex. No people walking around or even driving around. The industrial complex has many rows of businesses that are closed for the night with minimal lighting. At my insistence we keep driving down each row looking for any sign of human activity.

Me: Keep going. Lets go down the next row.

Backseat: OMG! Did you get these directions from craigslist?!? Are you sure we aren't driving into the hands of a killer? How do you know this place really exists?!? Lock the doors!

Scene: Driver locks the doors.

Me: There it is!!!

Driver and Backseat: WHERE?!?

Me: See??? Right there...The little open sign. I see people in there.

Scene: We are parked and I'm throwing off my seatbelt. Driver and Backseat are a bit hesitant to get out. I sense them 'grabbing' me to stay in the car.

Me: There are kids inside! Come on!

The nano brewery is tiny!!! It's family owned and the whole family is there. The kids are playing video games on their pads, the mom is pouring the beer. And the Dad or head brewer is chatting with the other people there about the beer with a huge smile on his face. I joke how hard it was to find the place and they nod in agreement. I had tasters of their Amber, Nut Brown, Pale and Stout. It was pretty good! So glad we found the place. A fun adventure indeed! They had pretty little taster glasses too. I appreciate those little things. The next place we went to was visible from the freeway so the freak out factor was nil.
http://wicksbrewing.com/  This place was a bit bigger and they had a kitchen. I didn't write down what I tasted here or took any pictures. But it was fun to check it out.

Stopped at Marin Headlands for a few days and hiked around. Took my knitting with me and knit a hat for my noggin from gift yarn. Found a spot on the cliff and knit and enjoyed the view. I tried to take pictures of me knitting with nature in the background, but I failed. I'd put the camera on a rock or wedged in some sand. Set the timer and run to where I thought was the center of focus. This resulted in many off center pics sometimes with me and the yarn sometimes with my knee down and sometimes without me at all. No tripod sooo yeah...Won't forget the mini-tripod again. So I took pics with said yarn in my hand. Knitting while hiking/camping is actually fun. Really.

Hiked the Miwok/ Wolf Ridge/ Coast Trail loop to Rodeo Beach and finished at the hostel.

The road fell off down the cliff and into the Blue Yonder. The rock above and to the left of the STOP CAPITALISM sign is pretty much where it drops off.

Urban art on the walls of one of the Batteries. Signs of how close this is to the City.

Effects of saltwater on the Battery doors. Signs of its proximity to the ocean!

Rodeo Beach. I think a person could surf these. Not too bad at all.
 Pretty spectacular waves.

http://bearrepublic.com/ Last but not least. I couldn't resist stopping in Healdsburg for a visit to Bear Republic brewery. Tasty beer. I'd never been and always wanted to go so I did. That's a cool little town!
